We guarantee savings on green energy purchases

How can the processing industry benefit from renewable energy sources that will reduce emissions in line with the requirements of EU climate policies, while generating savings? This is what Vice President of the Management Board of Reo.pl, Tomasz Morawski, discussed in an interview with the Fermentation and Fruit and Vegetable Industry.

Any change at the system level, requiring a comprehensive transformation, raises a number of concerns for all of us, including electricity consumers. The European Green Deal, which is the EU's fundamental climate policy, aims not only to achieve neutrality, but also to build the competitiveness of Community economies. By 2050, we are to become the first climate-neutral continent while building economic resilience. What does this mean for the processing industry and what is worth paying particular attention to?

  • Operating costs will be significantly lower in the long term if you start investing in sustainable and environmentally efficient solutions in your businesses now. Taking a long-term view of business, and this is, after all, the case in the processing sector, the measures taken will make it possible to significantly increase competitiveness and visibility on the EU market. Pro-environmental measures are also pro-efficiency measures.
  • The system of white certificates ceases to be a significant support for enterprises. Its introduction was intended to support modernisation measures for entrepreneurs, in the field of energy efficiency. These measures are of course very important, but they are only one element of the energy transition. In addition, since the introduction of the scheme in question, both the environment and the sustainability requirements have changed significantly and the scheme has remained virtually the same, with the result that it is slightly stagnant and its support is not significant.
  • More and more companies are now requiring their suppliers to prove their environmental impact. This is set to accelerate in the coming months due to the obligation of so-called ESG reporting.
  • The cost of purchasing green energy, depending on when it is consumed by the consumer, can be up to several tens of per cent lower than the cost of purchasing energy from so-called traditional sources. It all depends on where the energy comes from: whether from photovoltaics, biomass, water or wind.
  • Green energy means full security and stability of supply. At Reo.pl, we ensure stability of energy supply - we know that the food and processing industry needs uninterrupted access to energy. Renewable energy consumers can reduce the cost of the electricity they consume and thus optimise their operating costs.
  • The end of 2024 means a lot of new contracts, but also contracts extended for further years with our customers who have been buying 100% clean electricity from Reo.pl for several years now. This is always the best recommendation for those considering talking to us.

You will find a full development of the above themes in the latest issue of ‘Fermentation and Fruit and Vegetable Industry’.

We look forward to reading it!
